NOTR - Wycliffe & Government of the People - 4.14.16

Today's Show: WYCLIFFE & GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE

Chris discusses the story of John Wycliffe who was known as the Morning Star of the Protestant Reformation, and his influence in the Western world.  A tradition says that the phrase, "Government of the people, by the people, for the people," was originally taken (by Abraham Lincoln) from the Wycliffe Bible of 1384.  While the phrase is widely attributed to Wycliffe, some have questioned it.  Was the man who so greatly inspired a revolution in obedience to the Word of God really responsible for such an influential idea?

NOTR - Morality & The Constitution - 4.8.16

Today's Show: MORALITY & THE CONSTITUTION

Chris discusses the saying of John Adams, who maintained that the Constitution of the United States was intended for a moral and religious people.  Adams even went so far as to say that it would be wholly inadequate to the government of any other.  What did he mean?  And could this be a key to understanding the breakdown of our society today?  Also discussed are further history lessons from the book, "Christ and Civilization" by John W. Robbins.  How has Christianity impacted the work ethic and industry of mankind since the Reformation?

NOTR - The Courts of the Unrighteous - 4.7.16

Today's Show: THE COURTS OF THE UNRIGHTEOUS

Chris discusses 1 Corinthians chapter six and the Apostle Paul's warning to the church about going before the "courts of the unjust" rather than the saints.  Is this a principle that is only to be obeyed within the Church community?  Also discussed is more of the writing of John W. Robbins on the impact of Christianity and Civilization.  Robbins reveals how the concept of giving absolute power to the State is of Pagan origin, presenting a sharp contrast to the influence of the teachings of Christ.

NOTR - Church, State & Reformation - 5.1.16

Today's Show: CHURCH, STATE & REFORMATION

Chris discusses some of the principles set forth during the time of the great Reformation, including the principle of the separation of Church and State -- which originally acknowledged that both the Church and State were "ministers" of God (Romans 13:4-6).  But how did the Reformation change the understanding of God and government?  And how were the rights of individuals championed by the declaration that governments must obey the Holy Scriptures and accept them as the inspired and inerrant Word of God?

NOTR - Christianity Under Siege - 3.30.16

Today's Show: CHRISTIANITY UNDER SIEGE

Chris discusses a series of stories, including the terror attack in Pakistan over Easter weekend and other attacks against Christians by the Islamic world.  The Gatestone Institute reports that "Muslims slaughter over 10,000 Christians and destroy 13,000 churches in Nigeria."  The ongoing assault against the followers of Christ appears to be worldwide and is continually growing.   Also discussed is the advance of Sharia Law in England, as a U.K. court rules that a father cannot take his son to a church or any place of Christian fellowship, since his ex-wife is a Muslim.  Could such an outrageous violation of religious liberty be on its way to America?

NOTR - Christ & Civilization - 3.24.16

Today's Show: CHRIST & CIVILIZATION

Chris discusses the book by John W. Robbins on "Christ and Civilization" about the influence of Christianity on the history of the world we live in.  With so many things changing around us, and the advancement of ancient pagan ideologies, is it time for Western Civilization to reclaim its Christian roots?  Robbins reveals that, despite what has been taught, the old Pagan world was not one of religious toleration.  In both Greece and Rome, those who did not embrace the "gods" approved by the State were severely punished and often put to death.  As America turns away from Christianity, will she next embrace a State controlled belief system?
