NOTR - Trump, Politics & Christianity - 1.27.16

Today's Show: TRUMP, POLITICS & CHRISTIANITY

Chris discusses some of the current controversies surrounding Donald Trump and his campaign to become president of the United States.  Why is the establishment (both Democrat and Republican) so opposed to him?  Also covered is the petition to have Trump banned from the United Kingdom because of his comments about a temporary ban on Muslims coming to the U.S.  The members of Parliament called Trump nearly every insulting name they could muster, including "idiot," "buffoon," and even a "wazzock" (?)  But all of this raises a most important question in the Church community: should Christians be involved in politics?

Hi, Chris!

You KNOW what a supporter I am of your ministry and that I agree with you on 99% of what you teach, but this is an area where we differ.

If Donald Trump were sincere in what he's preaching, I'd be the first in line to campaign for him. But I don't believe him to be sincere. I believe he's pandering to the beliefs of the majority of this country...as a means to an end.

I recall that he was a big supporter of the Clintons...called both of them "good friends". He was also "very pro-choice" (his words) and said, years ago, that if he were president, he wouldn't make partial birth abortion illegal. He was also very much in favor of a federal insurance system and thought eminent domain was wonderful.

All that's different from the man we see speaking today. Unless he's had some sort of "conversion" that he's kept secret, I think he'd be even more of a disaster for this country than Obama is...and that's saying quite a lot!

That's just my two-cents. :)

Also....as an aside...remember that Joseph and Daniel did not voluntarily involve themselves in government. They were both slaves who were placed in their official positions. They did not seek out those positions.

I pray often for continued blessings on you, your family and ministry. And please do hurry up and get Bridge out! :)

I would like to second all that you said, Darlene. We need to apply the same diligence to researching this man and his beliefs as with other things. Not to mentions his financial holdings (like strip clubs?) and recent behavior. Trump is telling people what he knows they wish to hear. He is a great marketeer. This is just another conquest for him.

We love you Chris, but please do more homework on this subject.

Christian would do well to realize that God called Nebuchadnezzar His servant, well before Nebuchadnezzar was saved, turning to God (brother Nebby wrote Daniel chapter 4 by the way, obviously by inspiration of the Holy Spirit). So do not underestimate God--if He raised up Nebuchadnezzar, He can certainly raise up Donald Trump. Let's see what takes place. I have friends who say they hate Trump so much that they'll sit the election out if he is the nominee--en effect depriving the Republican side of a vote, which benefits HIllary. Very strange, indeed...

Was Nebuchadnezzar elected? Since when does God call us to vote for the lesser evil if it is still evil?

I understand the anology, but not sure the "election" is comparable to what they did, particulary because the commoners were not all Godly. We are not to justify ourselves by what the world does. We will be accountable. I think folks are taking that part too lightly.

link says:
"After his father died Nebuchadnezzar rose to inherit the throne. His acsension to the throne was approved (voted on) by the noble families of the empire. The nobles, in a sense, represented the common free people of the Babylonian Empire. However, once he took the throne, he ruled with an iron fist. He was a butcher of men. Perhaps we should consider ourselves blessed when our “base” leaders perform even some good acts. As we near the end times hopefully laws restrict our rulers somewhat as much as they restrict the ruled. "
